We are talking a lot about the importance of knowing what will happen if global warming reaches certain thresholds, such as +1.5ºC or +2ºC.
This is not just because having those increments in temperature would have bad consequences (which it would), but specially because we can’t just bring the temperature back down and hope they’ll be fine again.
We like to think of it like dominoes: we’d better not topple them, or we’ll have quite a lot of work trying to set them back up again.
